Unwritten rules at S.H.S.

SHS, just like any other high school, has many unwritten rules. Unwritten rules are important at our high school ensure that our school runs smoothly.

Throughout students’ lives, they get accustomed to unspoken rules in any learning environment.

Senior Brecken Peterson said, “One unwritten rule at S.H.S. is don’t block the halls by walking slowly in a big group.” Peterson further elaborated, saying “I learned this rule simply by not being an idiot.”

Walking slowly may seem like such a miniscule inconvenience, yet it is an annoyance to a large majority of the school as it makes it harder to get to classes on time, especially when accompanied with a large group.

Junior Presely Winters further explains the hallway issues, saying, “Don’t stop in the middle of the hallway during passing period. It’s just common sense. It makes people run into each other and annoys everyone involved.”

Sophomore Abigail Ryan said, “An unspoken rule at S.H.S. is to not go to the bathroom during passing period because there are never any sinks available and the stalls are all full, and you’re better off just waiting, or you are going to be late to class.”

Freshman Fareeda Alkhalaf said, “An unwritten rule at S.H.S. is to not be lame in the student section. It’s really annoying when students, especially underclassmen, don’t join in the chants and make us look really stupid”.

These rules are key to surviving in high school. As students progress through their learning career, they will understand more and more why these rules are that important and hopefully relay them to future generations of students.
