Entertainment Review: “Irish Wish”

Entertainment+Review%3A+Irish+Wish

“Irish Wish” was released to Netflix on March 15, 2024. This new romantic comedy stars Lindsay Lohan as the main character, Maddie Kelly. “Irish Wish” chases the life of Lohan’s character Maddie Kelly to find her true love days before her best friend’s wedding.

The movie starts off with writer Maddie Kelly helping out author Paul Kennedy which she is crazy for but she’s scared to confess unless he does so first. The night of the book premiere they both worked on together, Paul announces to Maddie that he wants to talk to her, which he ends up telling her he wants no further relationship with her besides being coworkers.

While Maddie is unhappy about Paul’s feelings towards her, she doesn’t stop there. While in Ireland for Paul and Emmas wedding, which is also Maddie’s best friend, Maddie makes a wish, wishing she could marry paul.

As the movie goes on, Maddie realizes she is making a huge mistake wanting to marry Paul. Maddie finds her new love interest. The choice she made really helped the movie keep going and interested me to keep watching to see what happened to her wish she made at the beginning.

When watching “Irish Wish,” there is a bit of similarity to Lohans’ early 2000’s movie “Freaky Friday.” Both movies show how the main character wakes up the day after a wish to a completely different life they were not expecting.

Since Lindsay Lohan has starred in many other fan favorite movies such as “The Parent Trap,” “Mean Girls,” and “Freaky Friday.” The “Irish Wish” wasn’t my favorite from Lohan but I did really enjoy it and seeing the good choice her character made in the end.

The “Irish Wish” movie overall is a great laugh with a bit of romance like the rest of Netflix romantic section as well as Hallmark movies.
