The Romance film “Reminders of Him” was released on March 13, 2026. The film is based on the book by Colleen Hoover and was directed by Vanessa Caswill.
The cast includes Tyriq Withers, Makia Monroe, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham and many other talented stars.
The story follows Kenna Rowan who pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter for a car accident that resulted in the death of her boyfriend Scotty Landry. Six years later she is released and moves back to her home town.
Kenna hopes to meet her five-year-old daughter Diem whom she gave birth to during her sentence and has been raised by Scotty’s parents, Grace and Patrick.
In the beginning of the film, Kenna stumbles into a bar which used to be her and Scotty’s favorite bookstore. The bar is owned by Scotty’s best friend Ledger Ward, but Kenna doesn’t realize that until later.
Ledger didn’t recognize Kenna either because he wasn’t around much when Scotty was still alive and with her.
Their feelings for each other develop immensely throughout the film while Scotty’s parents are doing anything in their power to keep Kenna from meeting Diem.
Kenna faces many hardships during the film, including struggles with intense grief, immense guilt, social rejection, and a desperate battle to regain custody of her daughter while facing opposition from the town and Scotty’s parents.
Ledger is like an uncle to Diem and sees that Kenna made a mistake so he supports her and eventually talks Grace and Patrick into letting Kenna meet Diem.
The central theme revolves around whether redemption is possible after a tragic loss. Kenna’s guilt is constant, yet the story examines whether self-punishment and growth are enough.
In my opinion this movie was great and showed so many different aspects of grief that no one really sees. If you liked this movie, I would recommend “Regretting You” which is also a book by Colleen Hoover that was turned into a movie.
