Entertainment Review: Future’s “I NEVER LIKED YOU”

Entertainment+Review%3A+Futures+I+NEVER+LIKED+YOU

Future is 38 years old and has one of the most established discographies in all of rap. Future is widely respected on the rap scene. He has 10 studio albums, so there is obviously going to be a couple of misses. However, when it comes to Future, he is the type of artist that you can just put on shuffle and bop your head to. “I NEVER LIKED YOU” is strictly a rap album. While I appreciate Future’s greatness, it would be good for him to try to get out of his comfort zone a little more.

You can access this completely free on many streaming services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube, and many more.

Future announced he was going to drop the album on April 5, and then on April 17, he finally announced the release date was going to be on April 29. Finally, on April 25 he announced the title was going to be “I NEVER LIKED YOU” and he released the album cover, which was him asleep in the back of his car with an eye mask on.

Here is the track list and my rankings of each song:

STAYED DOWN – 8.5/10

WORST DAY – 9/10

JUST THE BEGINNING – 9/10

This album has that classic Future feel to it, but the production seems to resemble Young Thug or Gunna. My three favorite tracks are “MASSAGING ME,” “WAIT FOR YOU”, and “PUFFIN ON ZOOTIES.” If I had to decide on three skips they would be “CHICKENS,” “LIKE ME,” and “AFFILIATED.” The three skips are not necessarily bad, but rather they are either boring or just don’t have anything special to them compared to the rest of the album.

The biggest positive of the album is that there are not many misses, and a few songs are just absolute bangers. The biggest negative is that it’s difficult to listen to the album from beginning to end because the songs sound very similar and it can get somewhat boring.

The 22 tracks are certainly worth the hour and five minutes of your time if you are into his music at all or anything related to it. If you are unsure then I would suggest listening to the three songs I listed above, which were the best, and go from there.
