Student of the Month is an award given to students who show great academic achievement and all-out effort. This award qualifies students for Student of the Year, which is an essay-based award. Seniors Maggie Morris and Ryan Gebhardt were awarded this honor for March.
Within her four years at S.H.S., Morris has taken a variety of AP classes such as AP Human Geography, AP Biology, AP United States History, AP Psychology, AP Pre-Calculus, AP Language and Composition, AP Statistics and numerous accelerated courses. Throughout her high school career, Morris has reached and obtained a weighted GPA of 4.29 and an unweighted GPA of 4.0. Morris has gained a couple leadership positions during this school year; she was inducted into National Honor Society and became a National Honor Society Officer and a student council senior representative. Morris has earned many awards, and achievements, such as AP Scholar, Illinois State Scholar, her CNA certification, and many more.

She is a participant of the IMPACT Program at SVCC and has enjoyed volunteering at places like New Life Church, blood drives, swim meets, and more.
Post-high school, Morris plans to acquire her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), gain high intensity care experience as a nurse by working in the ICU or ED, and then apply and attend a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program.
Like Morris, Gebhardt has also taken many AP and accelerated courses throughout high school. These courses include AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, accelerated english, science, math, and history classes. Just like Morris, Gebhardt is involved in National Honors Society. Gebhardt has kept a 3.46 GPA while being involved in many extracurricular activities.
Outside of school, Gebhardt enjoys spending time with his friends and family, lifting, and playing sports. Gebhardt has done football, soccer, and is currently involved in track and field. He has received many awards for athletics, such as second team All-Conference for football, first team All-Conference for football twice, Special Team MVP for football three times, freshman year Fresh-Soph MVP for soccer, Academic All-Conference for soccer and football, first team All-Conference for soccer and first team All-Conference for track, a second place at state in 4x200m relay, and a sixth place at state in 4x100m relay for track and field.

Both Morris and Gebhardt demonstrate great academic ability, leadership, and involvement in S.H.S., meeting the standards for Student of the Month.
