As prom is quickly approaching, many are wondering what they should be doing to prepare. Prom is approximately two months away, and at this point many girls are buying dresses and guys are looking at suits. If students are in need of a local place to buy a dress or suit, Selmi’s Formal Wear is perfect for your needs.
The S.H.S. junior class is also holding a fundraiser where they are selling donated prom dresses and accessories. The sale will be held on March 15. This will be the perfect place to find shoes, a dress, jewelry, and accessories for a much cheaper price.
At this point, juniors and seniors should be trying to find a prom date or a group of friends to go with. Whether students want to go with someone from Sterling or from a different school, now is the time to reach out and try to find a date.
Many people choose to ask someone to prom with a cute poster, if this is the case students should be looking up and brainstorming different ways to do that. Some different sayings to put on a poster could include “I like you a Latte, Prom?” with a coffee in hand, “Light up My Night at Prom?” with a tangled themed poster or “Will You Be My Sunshine at Prom?” If students are not sure when and where to ask, make sure to reach out to a friend so they can help plan the best promposal! When asked how she would like to be asked to prom, junior Evalyn Gaffey said “I would love to be asked with a Beauty and the Beast poster, because Belle is my favorite princess.”
Girls should also be booking hair, nail, and makeup appointments sooner rather than later. Many girls choose to do their own hair and makeup, but for those who don’t, make sure to reach out to a salon soon because spots fill up quickly! Senior Ellie Kested states “Personally I prefer getting my hair professionally done! I like the security of knowing my hair is taken care of and I don’t have to stress about it.” Some local hair salons include Simply Hair Studios, Bella Vita Hair Design, B’lush Salon, Statik Hair Studio & Day Spa and so much more. Nail salons include Sterling Nail Spa, K Nails & Spa, Nails By Victoria Garcia, Kim’s Nail Spa, Posh salon and many more.
Lastly, flowers should be starting to be looked at and decided. Does she want a bouquet or a corsage, does he want a magnet boutonnière or a pin boutonnière? When asked where she likes to get her flowers, senior Chloe Clark said “I always like to get my flowers for dances at Lundstroms Florist!” Some local florists include Behrz Bloomz, Lundstrom Florist & Greenhouse, Wahl Flowers and Flowers ETC. But then again, there is always the option to make your own flowers at home!
