On December 19, 2025, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” was released. The “Avatar” series focuses on the conflict that is faced on a moon named Pandora, where human colonizers use genetically engineered Na’vi bodies to operate in the Pandora environment.
The first movie produced was “Avatar” in 2009, which was just the beginning of a film franchise that fans would grow to love. Fans were encapsulated by the 3D technology used that made the movie a visually stunning experience. The movies are incorporated with beautiful and shocking visuals that are truly a unique feature.
Jake Sully is the main protagonist and is played by Sam Worthington. His love interest is an avatar named Neytiri who is played by Zoe Saldaña. Their love story is a classic “enemies to lovers” romance which began with Neytiri despising Jake due to his original form being a human. They grow their bond further not only as parents but as leaders to their tribe.
Many years later, in 2022, “Avatar: The Way of Water” made its way to theaters. Compared to the first movie the visuals were significantly upgraded but, the fans had wavering opinions overall.
Senior Maggie Morris said, “To me, the second ‘Avatar’ movie was completely predictable and was way too long. I was hoping to see the newest movie but the duration of the movie just seems unbearable.”
The most recent film differs because it introduces new characters called the “Ash People.” More differences would be that the narratives shift between characters and there are new environments as well as creatures.
Not only are there the obvious differences, but in the previous movie, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, the Sully family loses their eldest son, Neteyam and in the next film are shown grieving throughout the entirety of the movie.
Junior Quincy Mass shared, “I went to see ‘Avatar’ with my brother and it was pretty good. I would recommend it.”
When adding new characters and improved visuals, the newest “Avatar: Fire and Ash” went to a whole new level compared to the recent films.
