Recently, Sterling boys basketball player Xavian Prather announced his commitment to Olivet Nazarene University(Bourbonnais, Illinois). The senior guard, known for his aggressiveness on defense, strong shooting ability, and great leadership, decided his commitment with academics and athletics in mind.
Prather states,“ONU felt like home since the day I stepped on campus, sophomore year,I knew it was the place for me. The coaching staff and players made me feel right at home. I was beyond comfortable with the program and college from the beginning and it exceeded my family and I’s expectations for my future.”
Prather was a contributor last season, helping the Golden Warriors to a 6-7 conference record. Prather earned honors with great defense and being a great leader, but also bringing positive energy at both ends of the floor, and amazing court vision. This is what stood out to ONU coaches when deciding what Prather can bring to the floor. Prather also plays for Midwest Wildcats, an AAU program that excels at sending their players to the next level.
Teammate Brady Berlin said, “Xavian offers amazing impact on the basketball court. When he steps into the game, he brings instant energy and often brings up his teammates. His hustle plays and constant drive to win makes him a great player.”
Prather is looking forward to pushing himself not only on the basketball court but also in the classroom. Prather is planning to major in criminal justice and later plans to be a state police officer after he is done playing basketball.
The Golden Warriors take the floor on November 22, 2025, against Morton High School.
Prather stated, “My goals for the upcoming season include winning a regional championship and having at least a 20 win season”.
Prather is ready to take a big leap this year and help the Warriors win a regional championship.
