This year, the 2025-2026 Student Council class officers were announced on Saturday, October 18. To be chosen as a class representative, students wrote out a well thought out response as to why they should be chosen to represent their class.
As executive team members, their role is to lead meetings and help make important decisions regarding Student Council. They are also expected to attend extra meetings and plan events.
Freshman representative Jade Ruiz said her role as a representative “means… serving as a voice for my fellow freshmen and ensuring their concerns and interests are taken into consideration.”
Sophomore representative Emma Pham said that “taking the role of Sophomore Representative is important to me as it allows me to have a larger leadership role and represent those of my class. I am super excited to work with this executive board and ready to have another amazing year in student council.”
Junior representative Sophie Potthoff said being a representative “means that I get to help make a difference in the school and get opinions and ideas from people who don’t usually get an input. I love planning and organizing and I can do that while being an officer.”
This year’s senior representative Maggie Morris said, “As senior representative, I am striving to advocate for my peers and ensure that all voices are heard. I am excited to collaborate with my fellow representatives and work together to implement positive changes that enhance the overall student experience, including social events and service projects.”
This year’s vice president Ports said, “I really love Student Council and having the influence to make changes in what I envision by being VP just brings me such joy to contribute to my peer’s high school experience! Not to mention next year the VP is who is in charge of Homecoming and with new advisors it will be very crucial to have someone that will really give it their all and I plan to do just that.”
The president, Leila Anderson stated, “To me, being Student Council President means leading by example and being someone members look up to. I’m excited to support my fellow student council members in upcoming events this year, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to promote positive change within the club and the community.”
These students are crucial for the planning and execution of many events that are here at Sterling High School. It is a very important club that makes sure everyone has a voice and is included.
