Each year, the junior class prom committee fundraises for the senior classes prom. With the school year starting, the committee has been brainstorming for new fundraisers and pursuing past traditions.
This committee has meetings during eighth hour, and welcomes any junior student willing to help fundraise. All students are able to share ideas for the themes, games, and fundraisers for our prom.
Junior class advisor Sira Gaffey and junior class president Owen Ports have been working their hardest to start the school year off strong. Gaffey explains that fundraising has been “hard because it’s not easy to find something that all people want” to buy.
When coming up with new ideas, Ports decided to start a new fundraiser for all S.H.S sports games.
Along with selling class shirts, he thought of selling laminated football rosters for families, friends, and players. Lots of people have supported this new fundraiser, with much approval from all types of viewers. Ports believes this fundraiser has been giving the class “fabulous results.”
Recently, the committee finished up their annual apple cider donut fundraiser. The fundraiser was presented to the juniors on September 9, and came to an end on 26.
This fundraiser is always a big hit, and this year it sold over 200 dozen donuts, not including the dozens that were sold during A & B lunch.
Now we have started a new pizza fundraiser, which started on October 2, and ends on the 23. Both 12’’ sausage and pepperoni pizza are 12 dollars, whilst cheese is ten.
Personal pizzas are six dollars, and ½ dozen cheese breadsticks are eight dollars. When you order from a student, you must report to the S.H.S library, or find the student you bought from.
Though this year has just started, many fundraisers have already begun, and will continue through the year. This is just the start of the junior prom committee’s fundraising journey!
