Travel Club keeps it local

Travel Club keeps it local

The travel club at S.H.S. went on their fourth and final field trip of the school year on Friday, April 12, 2024. The advisors that traveled with the club were Heather Johnson and Cami Hartman. They participated in local activities such as a cookie decorating class, a pizza party with games, and they visited La Michoacana for a sweet treat.

Johnson and Hartman chose to keep it local because they “wanted to support local businesses and also needed to find something food-related as many of our members enjoy food.

Senior Adriana Jenkins favorite part was “being able to participate in a cookie decorating class as well as playing games with the group.” Decorating the cookies seemed to be a favorite among the group.

Many of the travelers on this field trip have been on previous trips this year. The students really liked all of the trips this year and the ones who aren’t graduating are looking forward to what next year brings.

Junior Jamie Le has participated in many field trips and said that “It might be the second best trip after the escape room.”

Freshman Zoie Johnson really liked this trip because “we played a game together and it was so much fun and very funny.

All of the students on this trip seemed to like it for different reasons because Jenkins said that “This trip was more simple and quick, taking place after school and in town. Because of this, the trip did not feel rushed and we were able to spend more time hanging out as a whole group rather than separating into smaller ones, which I enjoyed.”

Johnson and Hartman haven’t decided any future locations for next school year. In the next school year the advisors will reach out to their members to see if there is anything specific they would like to do.

Even though this was the last trip with the travel club this year, you won’t want to miss the four trips they take next year.
