Entertainment Review: Arctic Monkeys “The Car” Tour

Entertainment+Review%3A+Arctic+Monkeys+The+Car+Tour

English alternative band, The Arctic Monkeys, recently went on tour after releasing their newest album “The Car”; scheduled to perform 33 concerts around five different countries. This is their first time touring since 2019 and first time playing ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’ since 2014, after their AM tour.

Opening band was Fontaines D.C., an Irish post-punk band formed in 2014. I couldn’t understand anything Chatten, the lead singer, was saying and only two of their songs semi caught my attention. I would’ve skipped the opening act but it’s good to support the opening artists.

The set list consisted of 21 songs from six out of their seven albums, only three of them being from “The Car.” They included their most popular songs such as “505” and “Why’d you only call me when you’re high?” but fans say that Turner, lead singer and guitarist, looks bored performing these songs due to them being overhyped; his singing was delayed and lacking compared to the other performances.

I am not a fan of The Arctic Monkeys but my boyfriend is obsessed with them so I bought him concert tickets. It’s not really my type of music but I can recognize a good performance and a talented artist. Turner sounds almost exactly like he does in the studio and that was one thing that impressed me as many artists don’t sound as good during live performances.

If you’re interested in alternative music or like The Arctic Monkeys, then you would definitely enjoy watching them live. The stage setup, the instrumentals, and the vocals were all amazing. I hate to admit that the tickets are definitely worth the money.
