With prom ‘26 getting closer and closer, there are several new prom dress trends this year along with some old ones that those attending prom may choose to incorporate into their special night. Some trends this year for prom are tight-fitting, open backs, bright, strapless, and sparkly.
The most popular trend this year seems to be dresses with gems and glitter, with a corset top and are tight fitted. Many people plan to purchase a brightly colored dress with some type of sparkle.
Popular places to purchase a dress from are Selmi’s Formal Wear, Gipper Prom, and Sherri Hill.
The most popular store to purchase from is Selmi’s Formal Wear, located in the Northland Mall.
Senior Illyana Moreno says that her dress style last prom was “red corset with some gems and a little train.” Moreno plans to shop at Selmi’s or Coco’s Prom, another popular place to shop for a dress.
Along with the popularity of gems, tightly fitted dresses are also very popular paired with a corset. Senior Bella Sylvester says she has “gotten both of [her] prom dresses from Gipper prom and loved them.” Both of Sylvester’s dresses were tightly fitted with a corset.
Rather than soft and light colors this year, many people are getting bright colored dresses.
Senior Leila Anderson, who plans on getting her dress from Wolsfelts, says she is “thinking blue, orange, or pink”. She would like to wear a vivid colored dress to match the theme, “Rhythms of Rio.”
Anderson also says she definitely wants “one with glitter or sequins on it.”
When freshman Ava Meier was asked what kind of dress she’d go for if she were able to attend prom, she said she would choose a “pastel yellow dress that is poofy and has a cute flower pattern”.
An older trend that seems to be coming back are the certain styles of heels. Associate Principle Alexandria MIller shared, “It seems like some of the shoes that I remember being trendy back then are now back in style, particularly the ankle strap heels”.
All in all, the dress you choose for prom can be a way to express your style and taste regardless of the trends or what is popular.
