S.H.S. plans for movie night

Sterling High School’s Student Council is hosting a movie night on the S.H.S. turf. This event is open to all S.H.S. students and begins at 6:30 p.m. on May 17. The entry cost is two dollars for all S.H.S. students.

Student Council sent out an email, which allowed S.H.S. students vote for the movie they would like to be shown. The winner was the movie “Grown Ups.” “Grown Ups” is a family favorite movie that has been around for years and watched by millions.

S.H.S movie night has been an event hosted by Student Council for the last three years. Student Council advisor Nicole Schlemmer explains that “the idea for movie nights on the turf began back in the 2020–2021 hybrid learning school year, when we were trying to think of some socially distant opportunities to get students excited for something outside of school.” This event has been a hit every year since first annouced.

Some necessary information everyone should know before attending is that absolutely no outside food or drinks are allowed in, but there is a concession stand that will be open during the movie with affordable snacks.

Blankets are also recommended, to sit on or to cover up with. Students are also able to bring lawn chairs.

Senior Addi Boyle said, “My favorite part of movie night was being able to spend time with my friends outside of school. It is really relaxing watching a movie on the turf and I cannot wait for this years.”

This is an S.H.S-student-only event and more details will be provided closer to the date. Every year students look forward to a night away from home to hangout with their school friends.
