With homecoming less than a month away, finding the perfect outfit can be overwhelming, as it takes time to order, alter, and prepare for a fun-filled night.
This homecoming dress shopping season is like no other. Sterling not only has one new dress store this season, but two.
Junior Romy Kendrick said, “I like the accessibility to new brand-name dresses. These new stores provide new job opportunities to teen girls like me. Also, there are always new dress shipments arriving; if you don’t find your dress the day you go in, you can come back in a couple of weeks and there will be a different selection.”
Coco’s prom, along with Selmi’s Formal Wear, are allowing girls to not have to drive to the suburbs. This gives students at S.H.S. and many other schools in the area the opportunity to stay close to home, while still finding the dress of their dreams.
Homecoming is what you make it, with so many dresses to choose from you can pull off any dress, no matter the price, with accessories and hair. Sherri Hill, Jovani, and other popular dress designers have been going for a bold look with dresses this year, with trends like big ruffles, bows, corsets, and hot stones.
Freshman Adalynne Molina says her favorite dress trend this year is “a sparkly strapless dress.”
Dress shopping should be done as early as possible, you want to give yourself time to allow for alterations if necessary. The supply of dresses is usually low at dress stores with them carrying one of each dress so no one has the same, this means that as the date approaches more and more dresses will sell out, making it harder to obtain the perfect dress.
A different alternative is ordering the dress online with much cheaper prices, but also a wider size range. Just be sure to line up the shipping time according to the day of homecoming.
Homecoming dresses are all about personalization and your style. No matter the trends, homecoming fashion is all about expressing personal style, and this year’s dance is sure to highlight that spirit once again.
