The series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” directed by Jenny Han has just released the newest season and it has swept me off my feet.
The story picks up again following the main character, Isabella “Belly” Conklin. Belly’s journey is a combination of love triangles and betrayal, whilst she navigates her relationships, friendships, and independence.
At the beginning of the season, her relationship with Jeremiah Fisher seems perfect, but deep down, Belly is fighting to get over her feelings for his older brother, Conrad Fisher. I think that putting Jeremiah and Belly together was just a bad choice on the author because viewers know that Belly still has feelings for Conrad. Belly only chooses to be with Jeremiah because she is scared of getting hurt again.
On the other hand, Jeremiah is immature but feels deep down that he is stuck in his brother’s shadow, and cheats on Belly after they were together for about 2 years in the first episode. He then tries to make up for it by asking for her hand in marriage right after her brother Steven got into a car accident, but that’s not even half of the bad stuff that goes on.
As Jeremiah and Belly are preparing for the wedding, Belly and Conrad are forced into their family’s beach house, and those feelings keep coming back, but she tries to ignore them.
Later on at her bachelorette party, Conrad expresses that he can’t stop loving her and that he doesn’t want her to follow through with this marriage, and she tells him she doesn’t feel the same way when deep down she does feel the same way.
Overall, If you did like this show and enjoy romance movies I would recommend my life with the Walter boys, Bridgeorton and to all the i loved the boys before. I would recommend this to incoming high schoolers and people who love romance and thrills.
