This year’s prom, “Meet Me At Midnight,” was hosted on May 3, 2025, at McCormick Event Center in Rock Falls, with post prom following at Sterling High School. This year’s prom made some new additions to the school year with the help of each class grade, including dress days, and a dodgeball tournament.
To start the prom week, junior class president Gavin Fischer introduced dress days for the whole school to be involved in. Monday’s dress day was Space Jam/wear your favorite jersey, Tuesday was eras days, Wednesdays was Mean Girls (wear pink), Thursday was sun vs. moon, and Friday was spirit day. This was the first year prom week had events such as dress days and a dodgeball tournament similar to homecoming week.
The first annual dodgeball tournament for prom week was hosted on Wednesday, April 30. Junior Mia Rodriguez helped plan this event alongside Fischer. Each grade was able to participate, with a total of eight teams, including ten boys and ten girls from each grade. Senior boys took the win, and each received gold medals, including the coaches.
Junior Vitor Polo added, “The dodgeball tournament was something to look forward to during prom week.”
Throughout prom week, the junior prom committee came together for one last meeting and helped recruit and train the freshman class who were involved in setting up and working for prom and post-prom. The junior prom committee started decorating the McCormick Center on Wednesday, up until the day of prom, to ensure every detail stood out and that everything was ready to go for prom.
Fischer added, “I was very excited to see the outcome of prom overall after many months of planning.”
Upon arrival at post prom, each attendee received ten tickets to place into raffles as well as a free drink ticket from the Roaming Mayor placed outside of the field house doors. There were a total of thirty raffle baskets donated from the junior class, B’Lush Salon, and Sterling High School.
After the exciting and eventful prom week, many students danced, laughed, and took photos to fully capture many students’ first and last prom.
