Later this year, Aurelio’s Bake Shop and Coffee House will relocate to the former Candlelight Inn at 2907 Locust St. Not only is the business moving locations, but many other changes will be taking place. Instead of Aurelio’s Bake Shop, the new name will be Aurelio’s Cake Factory Bistro & Cafe.
They are also providing dine-in seating and a drive-thru option, as well as a new menu. The new menu options will include soups, bagels, sandwiches, new specialty drinks, and custom cream cheeses.
Aurelio’s will be offering edible fresh fruit arrangements, and a build-your-own cake bar. There will also be many classic baked goods available such as cookies, muffins, cupcakes, cakes, and more.
The seating will be upgraded in the upstairs banquet space, which will be available for rent for private events in the future. The new location will be open from seven a.m. to seven p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and in the future, the hours will potentially be expanded.
The Candlelight Inn in Sterling was formerly owned by Matt Prescott, and after 56 years of the restaurant being open, he decided to close the location. Not only did Prescott own a Candlelight in Sterling but Prescott also currently owns Candlelights in Rock Falls, Lake Carroll, and Clinton, Iowa.
When asked what she was looking forward to the most about the opening, sophomore Kylie Todd said “I am looking forward to eating the baked goods and being able to get them easier by going through the drive-thru because it will be more efficient.”
AP Human Geography teacher Tyler Gaumer said that Aurelio’s is “a great place and I’m excited that there will be another memorable place in Sterling for people to enjoy. I’ve heard about the drive-thru and am looking forward to it.”
Be sure to check out Aurelio’s Cake Factory Bistro & Cafe when it opens. It’ll be something you won’t want to miss!
