Prom is coming right around the corner and it is time to prepare and get a head start on getting a dress, buying flowers, and finding the perfect accessories. This year prom will be on May 3rd, 2025.
There are different shops for people to buy a dress, such as Sterling’s Selmi’s Formal Wear. Selmi’s is great for people who do not want to travel a long distance for their dress. Selmi’s is located in Northland Mall. They have many different styles and options that can be seen on their Instagram: @selimisformalwear815.
Windsor is another great option to buy a dress because of the affordable prices along with the unique styles of dresses. Windsor is located in many different malls in Illinois along with an online website to purchase dresses.
Gipper Prom and Peaches Boutique are two popular dress stores that many people have purchased dresses from. Many students like purchasing from Gipper because the dress they select will only be registered to that person, so you won’t have to worry about having the same dress as someone from school. Gipper and Peaches are some of the largest dress stores, which means you will have plenty of options to choose from.
There are people who travel farther to get their dress like senior Merrick Amankwa who says that “personally, my mom and I love to travel far for dresses and we go to Breeze Bridal in Missouri. They have a great selection, and I got my homecoming dress from there and want to give it a go for prom too.”
Flowers are another important aspect of prom. Many people like to purchase flowers to go along with their dress. There are many options to get your flowers from, like Behrz Bloomz, Lundstrom Florist & Greenhouse, Selmi’s Wedding & Event and Flower Shop.
In recent years many people have been choosing the bouquet option over the corsage, and many students have chosen flowers that either compliment the dress by having the same colors as the dress or they choose an accent color to stand out from the dress.
It is always good to prepare what your entire look is going to be, so looking at makeup, nail, and hair inspirations is a great way to get ahead of the game. Pinterest has plenty of ideas to gather from for your prom flowers, dress, shoes, and accessories. Also make sure to not “stress too much on your heels because you don’t even wear them towards the end of the night. Just choose comfortable shoes so you can actually walk,” said senior Adamari Gutierrez.
Prom season is exciting for many students at S.H.S., and hopefully you have gained an idea of where to shop for your prom outfit.
