Playboi Carti’s studio album “MUSIC” released on March 14, 2025 and became Spotify’s most streamed album of 2025 in just one day.  

  American rapper Playboi Carti became popular back in 2017 with his unique “mumble rap” style on his debut album, “Playboi Carti.” His music’s combination of rap, punk, and metal lead to a known atmospheric feel opposed to profound lyricism.

  He later revealed his iconic 2020 album “Whole Lotta Red” where it is said that his music made the biggest transfer from rapping to pure energetic music. The album expanded his name and allowed him to gather bigger audiences, including other artists who he was now able to feature on his newest album.

  “MUSIC” is Carti’s biggest album yet with 30 songs and total listening time of 1 hour 17 minutes. “MUSIC” also has new features that have yet to perform next to Carti including Kendrick Lamar and Jhené Aiko as well as other collaborations with artists such as Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, and The Weeknd. 

  Each of these artists enhanced the new sound of Carti as he made the change from his signature “baby voice” to a deeper, more melodic delivery in recent music he was featured in. Fans had mixed reactions to hearing his new sound in Kanye West’s “CARNIVAL” and Metro Boomin’s 2024 album, “We Don’t Trust You.”

  Senior Brady Eilers rates the album an overall 7 out of 10, saying he “like[s] his new one more than “Whole Lotta Red.” “MUSIC” by Playboi Carti is a must listen in 2025 for fans of rap music.

  Overall, “MUSIC” has been another pivotal album for Carti and the rap genre as a whole with nine songs reaching top charts on Apple Music.
