Do you have a date? Because Sterling High School’s prom will be held on May 3 this year. The theme is “Meet Me at Midnight.”
Tickets will be sold in the cafeteria April 14-17 during both lunches and in the commons on April 15-17 from 2:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m. They will be also be sold in the commons on April 15 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
All bags for post prom are required for a check-in. Students are encouraged to change into casual, school-appropriate clothing for post prom activities.
Senior Kelan Mikrut suggested, “Students should bring a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.” In order to do so, attendees must turn in a labeled bag on May 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the S.H.S. commons. In the past, there have been bouncy houses, photo booths, and even free 7-brew and Kona Ice.
All bags will be searched for contraband and then placed into the boys’ locker room or girls’ locker room. Students may ask a parent or friend to bring their bags to bag check-in if they’re unable to attend. Items to include in the bag may be toiletries, casual clothing, shoes, etc. Prescription and/or over-the-counter medications needed for the night should be turned into an S.H.S. administrator upon arrival at prom premiere in the fieldhouse.
Students should arrive at the fieldhouse during 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. for prom premiere. At this time, attendees will be checked in, breathalyzed, and have any handbags searched. After walking through the premiere, students will board an assigned bus and be taken to the McCormick Event Center.
Upon arrival at the venue, guests will be escorted to their assigned tables. Then food will be served in a buffet style. Soon after that, prom king and queen will be announced. After the dance at the event center, students will be escorted to S.H.S. via school bus for post prom.
Students will be in the fieldhouse with various games, bouncy houses, and even a photo booth.
Students are not permitted to leave until after 12:30 a.m.
Junior class officer Adylyn Crandall says her favorite thing about prom is “seeing the final product of all of the hard work me and the other officers put into this year’s prom.”
Many students have been looking forward to this year’s prom after seeing the sheer success of last year’s prom.
