As March 10 approaches, students are eagerly anticipating the much-awaited spring break, a break from the routine of classes and homework. Many students look forward to spring break as it’s a chance to go out with their friends and get a breather from all the stress, before returning back.
While some families plan months ahead, their big trip to the Bahamas or on a cruise ship, there are still plenty of fun activities to do locally. Things as simple as going shopping around town and going out to eat with friends are always fun. Some hot shopping areas in town consist of Walmart, Marshalls, and Old Navy. Buffalo Wild Wings, Culver’s, Sophie’s Cafe, and Arthur’s are all hotspots for people to eat at as well.
On a more entertaining side, Black Hawk Lanes, a bowling alley in town, and Plum Hollow, a bowling alley in Dixon, are both in close proximity so you can go with friends or family. While their prices are very comparable, Plum Hollow has more activities to offer such as mini golfing and arcade games.
For those that want to stay home or inside, some fun activities you could partake in could be painting canvases with friends, having a movie night and binge watching your favorite series, reading your favorite books, or even completing a puzzle.
Others that enjoy being active as entertainment, Westwood Fitness Center is another popular place in town. Some enjoy putting on their headphones, listening to their favorite song and getting a workout in, while others may prefer utilizing Westwood’s batting cages, pickleball and volleyball courts, or their track and field area. To end your active day, Westwood also has a mini cafe available that offers acai bowls, a variety of energy drinks and protein sources, as well as quick and easy on the go snacks.
Whether you are going hundred of miles away or staying local this spring break, remember to take time for yourself and enjoy your time off before having to return back to school.
