With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, many people wonder what the best gifts are. Whether it is for your significant other, friend, or family member, these are the top ten Valentine’s Day gifts.

  Starting with number ten, consider what this person might need. Whether they need new perfumes or colognes, makeup products, or any other daily necessities in someone’s life; everyday items are important, too. 

  While it might seem like a big step, a simple fish, turtle, hamster or even a longer commitment of a dog or cat, a pet can be the perfect addition to someone’s life. Pets have been proven to improve happiness and reduce stress making it perfect for the number nine spot.

  Some people might not even consider bags. Many people think this only includes expensive bags and purses, but this can include any type of cute or functional bag appropriate for the number eight spot.

  A recent and popular option for gifts has been matching outfits, whether it’s hoodies, pajamas, or others. Even without matching, clothes are a useful gift that can make the person feel special whenever they wear it, perfect for number seven. 

  For number six, blankets are a popular, practical, and inexpensive option. Senior Madeline Malooly said the best Valentine’s gift she ever got was “a blanket from a friend which I still have and find joy in every time I see or use it.” For many people, the thought and person behind the gift matter more than the physical gift itself.

  For number five, while some might only consider expensive jewelry, there are many long lasting and sustainable options without spending a lot. For example, Etsy has been known to sell inexpensive jewelry and a wide variety of options suitable for anyone. 

  Flowers are often known to be a popular gift for anyone around Valentine’s Day. While they might not last, flowers will bring joy into the homes of those who receive them making it a memorable number four gift. 

  Legos have become a very popular gift, whether it’s a specific one to whom the gift is for, or something as simple as lego flowers or Valentine’s themed legos. While some lego sets can be expensive, it doesn’t have to be an extravagant set to be the perfect gift for number three in my ranking.

  For number two, a classic that has to be considered is candy. Whether it’s expensive chocolates or cheap candies, a sweet treat is often enjoyable for many.

  And finally number one. While not a physical gift, a memorable night is one of the best gifts you can give. Many people enjoy physical possessions, but experiences with those you love is the best gift anyone can give. 

  While not included in this list, Valentine’s gift baskets, also known as “bae baskets” have also become popular and well loved gifts. These often include a basket filled with stuffed animals, cups, candy, and many other items, but these don’t have to be expensive to be meaningful gifts. Dollar tree, Five Below, and other discount stores sell many worthwhile Valentine’s themed gifts that would be greatly appreciated. 

  These are my list of top ten gifts to give for Valentine’s Day. But when it comes to gift giving, someone who really cares about you will focus on the thought and love behind the gift rather than the physical possession.
