The S.H.S. Student of the Month (SotM) is the highest level of academic and extracurricular recognition for S.H.S. seniors. SotM winners are students who have challenged themselves with rigorous courses, are involved in many activities and/or athletics, have taken on a leadership role within the school community, and portray S.H.S. in a positive light. The two students that were awarded this title for December are Lillian Reaver and Bryce Hartman.
Within her high school career, Reaver has proven her worth at S.H.S. with the many clubs and activities she is involved in; she has also worked very hard throughout high school to achieve a 4.0 GPA. Reaver has taken rigorous courses such as AP Biology, AP Language & Composition, AP U.S. History, AP Human Geography, and AP Psychology. As well as her AP course load, Reaver has also taken several accelerated courses to challenge herself during her time at S.H.S.
In addition to her course load, Reaver is involved in young doctor’s league, dance team, National Honor Society, student council, and travel club. On the highschool dance team Reaver claimed the role of senior captain during football and basketball season.
Following her high school career, Reaver is undecided on where she wants to go to college but she wants to pursue a career in biomedical engineering.
The other Student of the Month recipient is Bryce Hartman. Hartman is a hard working student achieving a 3.923 GPA. To achieve this, Hartman has taken AP Biology and AP Language and Composition. He also completed accelerated classes in math, English, and science.
When not focusing on school work, Hartman participates in varsity golf, varsity baseball, and varsity basketball. Hartman achieved the role of varsity captain for golf his senior year.
After high school, Hartman is undecided where he wants to go because he wants to pursue a degree in physical therapy and obtain a doctorate degree in physical therapy.
These two dedicated individuals have put all their effort into being the best students they possibly could be at Sterling High School and we wish them the best of luck in the future.
