The holiday season is finally here and with Christmas break around the corner, here are some fun things to do!
With the weather getting cooler a fun idea could be to stay in, make some hot chocolate, and have a Christmas movie marathon. Some classic Holiday favorites are “Home Alone,” “Elf,” “A Christmas Story,” “Daddy’s Home 2,” “Polar Express,” and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.”
The holiday season is all about giving, joy, and celebrating. This time of year is a time when family and friends come together and enjoy festive meals and exchange gifts. A good deed you can add to your to-do list could be to visit a nursing home or senior center and spend time with seniors that find this a lonely time of year, considering some may not have family.
You can also help the less fortunate by donating toys to a toy drive, volunteering at a soup kitchen, or even donating clothes to those in need. This time of year may be a hard time for some soldiers who may not be able to spend the holiday season with their loved ones. Something you can do to make their day is to write them a letter.
This time of year deployed members of the Air Force and the Marines unfortunately don’t get to spend Christmas with their loved ones like they would like. You can find a penpal at the Red Cross Holiday for Heroes.
Something fun to do with your family is to decorate your Christmas tree. Decorating the tree while doing some Christmas karaoke or even baking and decorating cookies could be something fun and simple to bring the family together. Speaking of baking cookies, host a cookie swap! Invite your friends and family to eat and enjoy lots of different cookies without baking them all themselves. Everyone makes different types of festive cookies or even different holiday treats, then go around and taste test everyone’s treats.
This Christmas break instead of just laying in bed, spend time with your friends and family, whether it’s going out to go ice skating or staying in by the fire watching Christmas movies. Christmas is the perfect time to spend time with your family and spread joy by helping the less fortunate.
