On November 6, 2024, at the Booster Club meeting, the poms team presented a proposal to get new uniforms and the proposal was accepted. They will be getting dresses, more tops, more pants, and possibly skirts along with new poms to go along with the new uniforms. The poms team has had their old uniforms for three years.
Junior Morelia Vargas said, “I am very excited for the new uniforms, especially because I know our coaches will pick cute ones. It will also be something new and different for us and it gives more options to choose from for games!”
It’s not just the poms team members who are excited about the new uniforms.
Coach Kassidy Kenney said, “I am most excited about the new uniforms because it will add another layer of appeal and uniformity when out on the court and it has been awhile since we’ve had a new style of uniform.”
Now that the poms team is getting new uniforms, they will have them moving forward for basketball and football games in the future.
This year the poms team has many exciting events. Their annual guy-girl dance will take place on February 8. Their Kiddie Camp dance will be December 13 and all of the girls on the poms team will be competing at competitions and performing the dance at a basketball game.
Senior Peyton McCafferty said, “I’m looking forward to kiddie camp because it is always fun teaching the kids a dance.”
In addition to getting new uniforms, the team also got new flooring for the new season. The team has its own room within the school for practice and in the time that the team has had the room the flooring has been carpeted. After getting funding from the school, the team was finally able to receive new flooring making practice and dancing run smoother.
The poms team has grown exceptionally over the years. They started with 14 members for the 2021-2022 basketball season. They now will have 23 members in the 2024-2025 basketball season. The team growth was one of the main reasons for getting new uniforms and not having enough for everyone on the team.
Coach Jennifer Thueson said, “I’m looking forward to having a team with 23 girls this season because it will be our biggest team that I have coached. It is exciting to see that our dance program continues to grow.”
The team will do a fundraiser later in the year to raise money for their uniforms and poms.
