With the new school year going steady, the robotics team is working hard already for their new project. Not only are the robotics members working hard to perfect their robot, they are continuously presenting their projects and robots to CEOs of companies.
On average the team raises $15,000-17,000 for the robot projects each year from large corporations. The robotics team is planning on presenting their project to a corporation known as asTech. AsTech is a programming and tech-tool company that will hopefully be assisting in the development and funding for the MURPHY robot. Not only will they be presenting this to asTech, but they’ll also be presenting their robot to France Manufacturing, Sterling Woodwork, Menk, Willet Hoffman, United Craftsmen, HelloTech and many more.
The robot project is named MURPHY, being named after Murphy’s Law, which means that anything that will go wrong can go wrong.
Robotics Advisor Alexis Rivera said, “We call it MURPHY because we had some awkward issues and bugs appearing consistently throughout our starting process.”
This year the robotics team is working on a “swerve system.” Rivera explains, “Right now we are building a swerve system for next year’s competition. When you think of a swerve, you probably think of a car turning aggressively/ However this system works as an office chair with its independent wheels, not a car that has to turn and go forward but a chair that can go sideways.”
When asked about the competitions throughout the year, Junior Programmer Christopher Wellman said, “If I had to put it into one word, me and the Robotics team and I are very optimistic going into the competitions.”
The robotics team is looking forward to how the rest of the year will play out for them, especially at the competitions with their extraordinary robotic invention!
