As quarter two of the S.H.S. 2024-2025 school year begins, students are getting their National Honor Society application results back.
In September, students who were interested in becoming a part of the National Honors Society submitted their applications filled with their academic achievements and what they offer the community.
Junior Bella Sylvester said, “It took a lot of time and effort to fill out, but in the end it’s worth being part of something so amazing.”
Students had a few weeks to fill out their applications before they were due at the end of September, allowing them plenty of time to accurately provide all the information needed.
After advisors read these applications, acceptance letters were sent out and received throughout October and included information regarding the first NHS meeting and the necessary fee the students need to bring with them.
Junior Carlee Hawkins, felt “very honored to be in such an important program and be able to help out [the] community”.
At the October meeting held on October 29, students met with S.H.S. counselor and NHS advisor Darci Francis. They then discussed all the requirements to stay a part of NHS as well as how proud these specially selected students should feel for such an accomplishment.
For the newly accepted students, the induction ceremony takes place on November 19. This is an event meant to honor and induce students into the National Honor Society. Students will be introduced and once again discuss the requirements they have met and must maintain in order to be a part of the Sterling High School Chapter of National Honor Society.
Francis is excited for this year as she claims “we have a great class of inductees and students did very well on their applications.” As the advisor, Francis meets with students monthly and motivates them to maintain their exceptional academic standing in order to stay a part of the NHS.
Francis also wants to remind students that she will be reopening applications for becoming a part of NHS next fall and wishes all students who made it into NHS this year good luck!
