Fall drinks are a tradition dating back to 2003, when the first pumpkin spice latte was born. Ever since, they have been a controversial yet delicious treat.
They come in all different forms and unique flavors from many different locations. Here in Sterling, the most popular cafes are AirPlay, Seven Brew, Starbucks, and Sophie’s Cafe. A medium (or equivalent) pumpkin spice latte ranges from five to seven dollars.
The AirPlay iced pumpkin chai latte has received rave reviews including being creamy and sweet with a perfect pumpkin flavor. The drink can be ordered at their drive through location or at their cafe location for around five dollars.
Senior Presley Winters said she “feels all warm and fuzzy inside” when she drinks an iced pumpkin chai latte from AirPlay.
The Starbucks iced pumpkin chai latte has received mixed reviews. It is sweet, and many different foam and syrup flavor options can be added. The pumpkin chai latte is available through the Starbucks app or in store for six to ten dollars.
Senior Audrey Crisp shared that she “tried a pumpkin spice chai from Starbucks and it made me [her] want to puke.”
Senior Samantha Knox said, “The chai latte is supposed to be fine but the acai refresher is better.”
The Starbucks iced pumpkin chai latte has a huge fan base on social media, and Starbucks’ stock prices and their profits skyrocket right around the time the fall drinks are released.
The Sophie’s cafe spice pumpkin latte has middling reviews. It is creamy, but less sweet than the others. It is available in store and costs between five and six dollars.
Senior Natalie Eddinger said, “I had a pumpkin spice latte at Sophie’s and it was okay. Not the best though.”
Overall the best fall drink option is the iced pumpkin chai latte from AirPlay because its’ flavor was rated the highest, it is cheaper than the others, and it comes from a local business.
