Every year, Sterling High School juniors raise money for prom decorations, location, food, and more. This year, the class of 2026 prom committee has set up multiple fundraisers for the 2025 prom. They are selling t-shirts and sweatshirts online and at home football games. Along with the clothing items, decals, and stadium bags are available for purchase. They are also hosting an event that will take place November 17 at The Factory hosted by the Junior Class in order to raise money for prom.
The class of 2026 junior officers run and organize the prom fundraising. The officers consist of president Gavin Fischer, vice president Avery Moran, secretary Leila Anderson, and treasurer Adylyn Crandall. Together they plan events, come up with ideas on how to make money, and more. If you would like to be a part of this, just join the Prom Committee!
There is a Parent Prom Committee and a Student Prom Committee who each meet once a week. To join the committee, you may already have an email from dean of students Alexandra Miller with a form or you can email Fischer.
On November 17, 2024, the prom committee is hosting an event at The Factory. The “Sunday Showdown” is located at 103 W 3rd Street in Sterling, Illinois, this event starts at 11:00 am. Fischer explained that “the Bears vs. Packers game will be shown, food and drinks will be available, there will be games, and a basket raffle will take place.” It is free to get in, but you must pay for food. A percent of The Factory’s earnings from the event will be given to the prom committee.
Fischer shares that the prom committee recently had “big success” with selling clothing items, decals, and clear bags, along with class shirts, sweatshirts, long-sleeve shirts, and pink clothing online and at a few select football games.
Decals and clear bags were also sold at football games because Sterling High School recently prohibited bags and purses that are not clear. There were a few options for clear bags, multiple sizes with a Sterling logo or no Sterling logo.
Every year, the junior class and their parents run the prom committee, set up fundraisers, and plan. This year, Fischer is in charge, and has been doing very well.
