The fall play this year is “Pride and Prejudice” and will be performed on October 25, 26, and 27. Students in this cast have been practicing hard to get this performance ready.
This play follows the love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. The leads, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy are played by seniors Katie Moore and Owen Gaffey but there are many other important parts that go into making this play.
The story follows stubborn characters as they overcome their pride and fall in love with each other. The story takes place in rural England in the early 19th century and is centered on the Bennet family, which includes five sisters.
Not only is this a play, but it is also a very popular movie, series, and novel by Jane Austen. The movie was made in 2005, while the series can be found on Hulu and was made back in 1995.
Rehearsal for this play started back in September, which only gives these students about two months to perfect this play and get ready to perform. Students rehearse from seven to nine on Monday through Thursday.
Gaffey, who plays Fitzwilliam Darcy stated, “Practicing for a big part can be a lot of work and very stressful, but it is also super fun once you get the finished product.”
The cast list for this play was posted only five days after auditions took place, and members were very anxious to find out the different role assignments.
Moore said she was ecstatic after finding out her role because she has “always felt connected to Elizabeth Bennet’s character and was grateful for the opportunity to portray her on stage.”
I would heavily encourage everyone to come watch this play and all the hard work these students have put into it.
