During the school year, students need to find the best way to have an enjoyable and productive lunch. Students on the first floor for fifth hour have A lunch first, then class, while students with a second floor class fifth hour have class first then B lunch second. All students have a 30 minute lunch and have free options provided by the school from pizza, sandwiches, nachos, and several other options, some of which are offered daily while others rotate throughout the week.
While school lunch is offered for free, students can also choose to bring their own lunch which can be anything from cold lunch, food that can be heated up, since there are microwaves in the cafeteria, or even food leftovers from a restaurant.
Many people enjoy several different food choices offered at lunch. Junior Katherine Fernandez usually has “pizza for lunch, sometimes pretzel and cheese or Bosco sticks.”
Others; however, might choose to bring lunch from home. Senior Madeline Malooly recommends “bringing a frozen meal to heat up so students can have hot food of any kind any day.”
Many people believe there are several changes to lunch that can be made to improve their and others’ lunch experience. For example a longer lunch and to be able to decide which lunch they want.
Fernandez said that she has B lunch but prefers A lunch because she “could go and eat in the orchestra room with [her] friends.” She also thinks there should be “more pretzel and cheese or different sauces, like hot sauces because many students enjoy adding them to their meals but can’t because the school doesn’t have any.”
There are many different ways for students to improve their lunch experience. Some of these changes may not be made, but there are ways students can change lunchtime for themselves, to benefit the rest of their day.
