Phillips said, “We are looking to improve from last year. We have a lot of young guys who add a lot of new talent to a strong group of seniors.”
Volleyball
Key Returners: Seniors Carley Sullivan and Delali Amankwa
Rivalries: Moline and Rock Falls
Previous year accomplishments: Made Regional championship and finished in the top half of the conference
Captains: Carley Sullivan and Delali Amankwa
When questioned about her hopes for the season, Sullivan said, “This season we will grind to be first in conference, and we hope to see past regionals!!!”
Boys Cross Country
Key returners: Seniors Aalin Schmidt and Parker Blakeslee
Rivalries: Rock Falls and Dixon
Previous year accomplishments: The team as a whole made it to state last year as well as multiple individual qualifiers.
Captains: Seniors Aalin Schmidt and Parker Blakeslee
Schmidt said, “I think this year is gonna go great. We have a pretty young team but lots of determined athletes that are gonna give us a good chance at success. I’m excited to see everyone grow as runners and achieve personal goals.”
Girls Cross Country
Key returners: Sophomore Jaz’Mya Castenada and Junior Delia Block
Rivalries: Rock Falls and Dixon
Previous year accomplishments: The team had state qualifiers for the first time since the 2003 fall season.
Captains: None
Head Coach Megan Grady said, “This year we have a large group of freshmen joining the team. We had a consistent turnout for summer conditioning and the team has been working hard in practice. I am excited to see who will fill in the gaps of those we have graduated.”
Girls Tennis
Key returners; Senior Eleanor Aitken
Rivalries: Geneseo, Dixon, and Newman
Previous year accomplishments: Aitken and Tablante were state qualifiers in singles. Aitken earned third and Tablante fourth place individual finishes at sectionals. Aitken earned fourth place individual finish at Western Big 6 conference tournament.
Captain: Eleanor Aitken
Aitken said, “I think this year we have a pretty good team because we have a strong group of returners and a good influx of young players. We have been practicing a lot and are ready to go for our first meet.”
Girls Swim and Dive
Key returners: Senior Madison Austin, Senior Presley Winters, and Senior Kate Austin
Rivalries: Moline and Byron
Previous year accomplishments: Madison Austin qualified for state individually. The team placed 3rd place at the Sectional meet. 3rd place finish in conference. Team Finished with a 9-0 record in dual meets.
Captains- Seniors Presley Winters, Madison Austin, Sammie Knox and Kate Austin
Winters said, “I think this season will go great with individual events as well as relays.”

Andrews said, “I think this year will be one of the best years of the high school dance team I have been on due to the talent and hard work our team has put in at each practice.”
Boys Soccer
Key Returners: Junior Ryan Gebhardt, Senior Christopher Martinez, and Sophomore Kevin Ruiz
Rivalries: Dixon, United Township, and Geneseo
Previous year accomplishments: The team persevered the odds and made the Regional Championship where they fell to Dunlap.
Captains: Senior Christopher Martinez and Junior Anthony Rosas Jr.
Gebhardt said, “we have a strong team this year with some new transfers who add great talent to our team” when asked about his outlook on the team for this season.
