With the year coming to an end, the seniors are spending their last moments of high school together. In order to make the most of their time together, the senior class officers have put together a senior sunset event for only their class. This is a good time for the class of 2024 to come together and spend some of their last moments and memories with one another.
The class officers of ‘24 started this tradition in hopes of other classes following in the years to come. Senior Class President Emily Lofgren mentioned that this was her favorite event that she has planned this year because she is hopeful it will bring the class together one last time before they walk across the stage. The sunset will take place on the S.H.S. Turf on Wednesday, May 22. This event will be held from 7-9 p.m.
Senior Maggie Rowzee said, “I am really excited to see everyone in my class one last time. This is a great experience to get together.”
The turf is a great spot to hold fun games, including corn hole, as well as nine square and an intense water balloon fight. The students have to stick to the school dress code so swimsuits are unfortunately not allowed.
Food will be provided for those in attendance, including pizza and dessert. Boys will bring beverages and girls will bring desserts. It’s up to the students to bring things that they like to satisfy themselves and others.
There will be staff and a police officer in attendance to ensure the safety of the students of Sterling High School. Senior Josue Arreola stated “I can’t wait to enjoy our last high school event
The seniors were asked to submit photos of their senior year and they will shuffle through on the jumbotron during the sunset. This will allow for some time of reflection on all of the great memories the class of 2024 holds. They were also asked to give music recommendations that they feel are fitting for the event.
With the senior sunrise being successful in bringing the class together for the unique experience, we can only expect the same from the senior sunset.
