Farmapalooza is right around the corner, on May 9, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m the Sterling FFA chapter and Sterling high school will be hosting the 2024 Farmapalooza. This is an annual event that the Sterling chapter puts on in the spring. It will be located in the S.H.S. fieldhouse parking lot. The purpose of this event is to introduce the younger generation to the life of agriculture.
Many of the same booths from last year will be at this event such as animals, a fishing booth, and tractors. However, there are some new “attractions” including drones, harvesting, and electrical wiring inside homes. The Sterling Agriculture program is excited to put on Farmapalooza this spring.
Junior Nick Capp said, “I’m excited to see Farmapalooza again because its nice to see everyone enjoying being outdoors and it gives a break from all the stress that is put on us students during class.” While this is an educational event for the younger kids it is also a fun event for the older kids. No matter the age everyone loves going to Farmapalooza.\
Advisor Meg Stanley said, “Farmapalooza is one of my favorite events because our students get to showcase their personal connections to Ag and we get to educate students and community members about aspects of agriculture they may have never known existed!”
Those participating and working the event are currently working hard to finish everything. Posters are being made, along with t-shirts and finding sponsors. All participants made a design for a poster near their booth and a script with questions to ask the kids. Sponsors have donated to help get supplies for the booths and their logos are on the back of the 2024 farmapalooza shirts. The shirts were designed and ordered, so now it’s just the little things that need to be prepped.
“I’m excited for Farmapalooza because it’s my favorite FFA event of the year. I love to see our members showcase their agricultural passions and educate community members and students on how agriculture is important in everyone’s lives. I hope for a successful and educational event which will influence kids from our grade schools to learn more about the Ag industry and maybe be FFA members upon making it to high school!” said sophomore Grace Wetzell.
The Sterling FFA chapter is excited to put on the 9th annual Farmapalooza and would like to thank everyone in advance for their effort and support in this event.
