The girls soccer team traveled to SeatGeek Stadium on April 13th. The girls traveled to Bridgeview IL in order to watch the Chicago Red Stars game against Angel City FC.
The girls were able to take this trip because of the $16,600 raised during their fundraiser. The girls took this opportunity to bond as a team.
The team tailgated before the game. The tailgate included tacos, ceviche, fruit, and many sweet desserts. The vibes were high with all the fun and excitement in the air. The girls started off the night by eating and dancing before the game began.
Head coach Raul Sanchez had the opportunity to take 20 girls down to see the Red Stars warm up. The girls were able to see how supportive the Red Stars are to one another. Being able to experience this allowed the girls to know how being supportive boosts a player’s confidence.
Senior Lelaina Block stated, “My favorite part about the game was watching the team warmup on the sidelines before it started.”
Although the Red Stars lost 0-1 the girls were able to see how a team works together and puts up a constant battle.
Junior Tatiana Ibarra believes that this trip will benefit the team in many different ways.
Ibarra said, “I think it will help us understand how serious some people take this sport, how practicing more could get you higher up and also just being able to watch them play and seeing how the girls played definitely benefited some of us girls a lot.”
Senior Mireya Lopez said,“This trip helped give the team a closer bond. Being able to cookout with the team prior to the game, to all seating near one another, it definitely brought us together and closer. Not just as a team, but also friendships off the pitch.”
The girls took away a lot from the game and will be able to implement all into how they play in the future.
