Christmas break is approaching but let’s not forget about our finals. Although finals are a big stress for students, there are many ways to relieve that. Many students have different study methods and teachers also have many ways to prepare students for their finals.
Over the years, students and teachers find different and more effective ways to prepare for finals. The trickiest part for students is remembering what they have learned earlier in the year. Teachers here at S.H.S. not only go over the old material at least a week before finals, but try to give out extra resources when taking the final.
Math teacher Lauren Sommers said, “Throughout the entire semester all homework assignments have a review section on it that spirals previous content so students are constantly keeping old topics fresh in their mind.”
Even having the whole semester reviewing, most students, including myself, let their nerves come to play on finals and tend to forget everything. Some teachers give paper with formulas or even a simple note card.
English teacher Zhané Baker said, “Since students already have so much to remember I usually give them something they can use like a notecard.”
Getting a notecard or extra resources to help you throughout your final cannot always be relied on. Because Not all teachers can make the exception of doing so. Practicing and studying on your own and asking for help is always the best way to do good.
Sophomore Ellie Wendelken said, “I usually prepare myself I study with quizlet. It has helped me a lot for my finals or for any test I have taken.”
Finals are a stressful time for everyone including upperclassmen that have been doing finals for a few years already.
Junior Alyssa Gaffey shared, “I’m especially nervous for finals this year as this is my first time taking AP classes. For incoming students I would say to try to stay motivated throughout the school year because it will help with getting good grades and staying on top of work.”
As finals keep coming closer just remember to stay positive and study as much as you can and always remember it’s okay to ask your teachers for help as well. Teachers are here to help all of us do better as students.
