What should seniors be doing after high school?

Many S.H.S. seniors may be wondering: “What do I do after high school?” Seniors may even feel overwhelmed with all your choices such as attending a four-year university, joining the armed forces, or going straight to work.
One option you may feel could be your fit might be the Armed Forces. They offer a wide variety of jobs and locations so you will definitely find your fit. One of the many benefits of the armed forces is having your education paid for after you enlist and sometimes you’re even paid to do it.
The Marines were senior Jerad Schneider’s first pick. Schneider explains that “[he] enlisted into the marine corp to achieve a sense of accomplishment and to advance [his] career.”
Another option would be a school of art. Senior Josey Hagerman is going down that route with a pursuit in becoming a character designer or art therapist. You might be wondering what it looks like to be accepted by one of these schools.
Hagerman shared, “Every art student has to submit a portfolio. Each school is different but overall, [usually] 15-25 pieces.”
An option people will want to do is attend a four-year university to get their bachelor’s degree. People can major in management, engineering, and business. Senior Kyle Knutsen will be majoring in accounting.
Knutsen said, “I can go into my financial field and make a great salary every year, and I could run my own firm in a few years.”
Another option is people going to a university for sports. Senior Lucas Austin is going to an undecided university to major in biology and play football. He is still looking for which university he will attend as schools have offered him scholarships.
Austin said, “I worked every day whether in the gym, on the field or in the weight room. I constantly worked to be the best person and athlete I can.”
Austin already has different scholarships from different schools and we are excited to see which school he will commit to.
This year’s seniors need to be focused on school and passing so they can get to where they need to be. We can’t wait to see what school some of them choose as their school.
