Theater seniors prepare to take last bow

Sterling High School is known for its impressive performances in the impressive setting of Centennial Auditorium. This year, there are three seniors who have been a part of these productions are Henry Oberg, Francisco Pease, and Michelle Henderson-Bellows throughout their high school experience.

Pease joined the theater department two years after Oberg and Henderson-Bellows when he did the production of “Matilda” for the summer. Oberg and Henderson-Bellows have been working together since 2019, when SHS performed the summer performance of “Jungle Book.”

Pease’s favorite performance was “Nice Work, If You Can Get It,” because “it was a really fun production with a solid cast who got stuff done.” This cast included Henderson and Oberg as well, with Oberg playing a major role whilst Henderson was Ensemble.

Henderson who’s favorite performance she was a part of was “Snoopy, The Musical.” It was her first lead role coming in as a sophomore and even though she played the adorable, tiny Woodstock it still had an important impact on her. Pease was not a part of this performance, but Oberg played alongside Henderson as Ensemble in this production.

All three seniors have been impacted one way or another by past or current performers, lifting each other up and having each other’s backs. Whether it’s helping each other memorize lines or improving an accent, they are all three together as one.Oberg has left the biggest impact on Pease due to the fact; “bro is just perfect for no reason at everything, including theater.” Working side by side with him has been a great opportunity for each senior.

Past performers have also left their mark with every senior. Alumni Jenica Francis left the biggest impact on Henderson, seeing as though “Francis really made me realize I found my family, people will come and go, but this. This is a forever kind of love,” said Henderson.

Whether they joined their sophomore year, or even started in 8th grade, this year’s seniors are still working together as if they have been performing with each other forever. Cherishing the last moments the seniors have, they have been going on dinners together and just enjoying each other’s last moments with each other.
