Second semester feels different than the first semester for most students, especially seniors, as they feel a lot more pressure since this is their last chance to do whatever it is they want to do school related. Students are trying to push through strong and finish with good grades. It can be hard to not let the excitement of the school year almost being over negatively influence you academically.

There are also lots of students with different schedules who are trying to get all of the credits that they need to meet graduation requirements. Adapting to a new schedule in your second semester can be difficult. Especially after getting in the rhythm of going to your first semester classes.

Senior Braden Herrera is making the most of his second semester by preparing himself for his life after high school. Herrera said, “I want to finish the semester strong and graduate high school.” Herrera plans on going to a trade school after highschool, he is currently in a WACC class that will help prepare him for trade school.

Junior Garrret Polson is making the most of second semester by going to the library any chance he gets to work on assignments and study. Polson said, “I am working really hard this semester to get my assignments in on time and have good grades.”

Senior Mikah Hernandez is taking a different approach to his second semester. While he hopes to keep his grades up and do well in his second semester, his big goal is to do well in bowling. Hernadez said he plans to “keep practicing hard for bowling and ultimately make it to state.”

With the end of the school year inching closer and closer it can be difficult to stay focused, but students ultimately know they need to try their hardest and finish their second semester and school year strong.
