Preparing for Christmas


  As the most wonderful time of year approaches, it is sometimes hard to get in that holiday spirit. So sit back, relax, grab some hot chocolate, and get in the mood for one of the best months of the year. Here are some ways you can prepare for Christmas. 

  The easiest way to prepare is by setting yourself up with some Christmas music. Personally, the first way I get into the Christmas spirit is by turning on the amazing Justin Bieber album “Under The Mistletoe,” which will always be my go-to for the month of December. There are many other fan favorites when it comes to Christmas music, such as Mariah Carey, Michael Bublé, Pentatonix, etc. 

  Senior Addi Boyle reveals that “the best way to get in the Christmas spirit is to listen to ‘Santa Tell Me’ by Ariana Grande.”

  A recent “LifeWay Research” study found that 70 percent of Americans enjoy hearing this type of music during the month of December.

  Getting into the spirit also comes with the stress of buying your loved ones Christmas presents. Gift-giving can take a lot from your bank account, or you can go out of your way with a memorable homemade gift. Preparing for this can be a lot but, at the same time, very exciting. 

  The best way to keep yourself from going crazy during this season is to buy the gifts or at least have ideas weeks beforehand. Black Friday is a key to most shoppers’ success during the holidays. However, having a budget can be a great way to manage your shopping as well.   

  “I start to shop for gifts in the month of October,” said food teacher Jamie Ruiz. Ruiz does this to eliminate the stress of last minute shopping.

  Another way is to spend time with your family and friends. Many activities go on during the winter. Sledding, skiing, and tubing can create memories and just a good time. Grab a group of friends and/or family and hit the slopes. Ice skating is also a big hit; many teens tend to go with their friends because it is just an overall great experience. 

 There are many other ways to prepare for the best holiday of the year, but whatever you do, choose activities that can positively affect your mood for the whole season.
