When it comes to prom, there is a great deal of preparation and thought for everyone. After all of this effort leading up to this day, for most guys the effort is not needed past the time they decide what they’re going to wear. It is certainly a much less stressful experience for guys, so I am going to walk you through the day of a guy going to prom.

  The day starts when you wake up to no alarm at all, probably around 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. ready to attack the day. Odds are that you and all your friends hung out the night before prom, so a place like Maple Pancake House is a great way to kick the day off. This is a common thought amongst Sterling High School students.  Senior David Tessman said, “It wouldn’t even feel like prom if I didn’t go to Maple on the day of (prom).” After a stellar breakfast, you have to make your next stop at the barber shop to get a fresh haircut (shoutout Myles Williams for coming in on Saturdays for us). Usually by now it is 12:00 p.m. and it is time to figure out what you are going to do for the next 4 ½ hours, so it is time to reevaluate.

  The next phase of the day starts with all your friends meeting back up and just killing time, usually playing some sort of game on the Xbox against them. 

  Senior Tyree Kelly said, “I usually have nothing better to do, so beating my friends in 2k is a great way to make the day go by faster.” 

  Things usually get insanely competitive at this time, lots of talking trash and not backing it up. This part of the day also consists of maxing out on a bunch of snacks and clearing out you or your friends’ food supply for the week. Fully unaware of when pictures are, you send a text to your date who tells you they are at 5:00 p.m. even though she has already told you 10 times this week. After a few more hours of chopping it up with your friends, it is almost time to start getting dressed.

  Some time between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. you start getting dressed. Your friends hadn’t discussed what they were going to wear at all so this is a cool time to see what they all have on. Subsequently, it is time to go pick up your date and head to pictures. 

  The rest of the night is basically organized chaos, and it is a bunch of fun. The day leading up to prom may be slightly different for you, however when it comes to that night, your experience will be as good as you let it be.
